To commemorate the end of an iconic era in Las Vegas history, The Mirage Hotel & Casino will host a ceremonial event on July 17 before it closes for good.

The Mirage to Close Ahead of Schedule to Make Way for Hard Rock’s Ambitious Plans

Starting at 9 a.m., speeches will be given by gaming industry luminaries Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming, Joe Lupo, president of The Mirage, and Alan Feldman with UNLV International Gaming Institute.

Hard Rock International, which bought The Mirage from MGM Resorts International for $1 billion in December 2022, has vowed to honor its history-making.

Josh Swissman, founding partner at GMA Consulting, said The Mirage changed everything about Las Vegas, as reported by CDC Gaming. He listed the volcano and atrium shows, Siegfried & Roy shows and the aquarium as revolutionary attractions that redefined the Strip together. Swissman said this is a new era led by a tribally owned and operated gaming enterprise.

Oliver Lovat, CEO of Denstone Group, said The Mirage was “the big one” that paved the way for more 3,000-room resorts like Bellagio and MGM Grand.

But even with its success still buoyed by customers who have been loyal to it for nearly three decades, The Mirage is closing ahead of schedule to accommodate Hard Rock’s ambitious plans for its redevelopment.

The Mirage’s Demise Marks the Beginning of a New Era on the Strip

The Hard Rock redevelopment project will include a 700-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower along with another theater, additional retail and convention space, and a significant expansion of the casino floor space. It is expected to double employment from what exists at The Mirage today during construction alone while keeping thousands more workers long-term after completion.

In the final days leading up to its closure, The Mirage has been a hive of activity with a six-day, $1.6 million cash giveaway, attracting thousands of visitors. Guests have been enjoying their last moments at the property, and gaming activities will officially cease around midnight on July 17.

After closure, memorabilia from the resort will be auctioned off in mid-August for employees to bid on, while some of the resort’s iconic signage may be preserved by the Neon Museum.

Hard Rock Las Vegas expects to open its doors in spring 2027 with the new Guitar Hotel, which promises an energetic new chapter for The Mirage site. This transformation aims to improve Las Vegas tourism and bring another wave of freshness to the Strip’s offerings.

Once turning 21, Howell started playing at the casino. To his surprise, some 30 minutes after starting to play, the man hit a staggering jackpot of more than $300,000. Playing at the LINQ’s O’Shea’s pit, the young man hit the MEGA Progressive jackpot, taking a whopping $362,640 from playing Ultimate Texas Hold’em.

As announced by 23WIFR, the young man appeared “overwhelmed with shock and disbelief,” in light of the massive jackpot win. The young man did not disclose specific details about what he intends to do with the grand prize he won from playing Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Still, Howell admitted that buying his own house is definitely a plausible option, considering the massive $360,000 jackpot he won recently.

And as Sophia recently explained, their synergy is rooted in their upbringings. 

“Hilarie grew up in a big family but doesn't have sisters and I grew up on my own,” Sophia told E! News at the July 10 Power of She event hosted by Athleta x ESPYS. “And in this very interesting way, we're two sides of the same coin and we're exactly the same person. We’re so different and we are so similar.”

As Sophia added of her friend, whose birthday is only seven days from her own, “She really is the closest thing in the world that I have to a sister. She's absolutely precious and priceless to me.”

In fact, for the 42-year-old—who co-hosted the event which highlighted nominees for the ESPYS Best College Athlete Women’s Sports—female friendship forms an irreplaceable part of her life.

“I have the most incredible group of women on speed dial and truly,” Sophia explained. “Whether we're trying to figure out how to work on policy to make our country more equitable, or we're trying to figure out how we can make it to a conference, or who's going to watch somebody's toddler because they've got work—they’re getting it all done all the time.”

She continued, “I know that I certainly would not be here if it was not for that group of humans who is my sisterhood and my home.”

But while Hilarie and Sophia’s friendship has more than withstood the test of time, with more than twenty years behind the pair since they first met, it hasn’t been without it’s trials.

Especially when they were cast as two of the three female leads in One Tree Hill at the age of 20.

“A lot of people wanted to pit us against each other," Hilarie said during a 2020 appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast. "You know, 'It's like oh Hilarie won't do this but Sophia will.' And 'She's the pretty one.' And 'She's the this one.' There's so much comparison that, as a young person, it's hard to navigate.”

But while the Walking Dead alum admitted that she and Sophia at times had to “fight for our own friendship,” it’s all become water under the bridge.

As she put it, “She and I now can look back at it and be like 'All those bastards. No. We're the love story.' So yeah, the female friendships were important on that show." 

And her warm feelings extend to the whole cast, which includes actors such as James Lafferty (Nathan Scott), Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James) and Chad Michael Murray (Lucas Scott).

While Hillarie admitted she and the cast “have squabbles like families do, they’re few and far between,” adding, “I’d take a bullet for those kids. I love them.”

Genshin Impact เกมกาชาที่ประสบความสำเร็จอย่างล้นหลามได้เปิดตัวให้เล่นกันบนหลากหลายแพลตฟอร์ม และ Nintendo Switch ก็คือหนึ่งในนั้น โดยทาง miHoYo ได้ปล่อยเทรลเลอร์เปิดตัวเกมบนเครื่องคอนโซลพกพาให้เราได้ตื่นเต้นกันเมื่อ 3 ปีที่แล้ว แต่จวบจนทุกวันนี้… เรายังไม่ได้เล่นเกมนี้บน Switch เลย

ในตอนแรกที่ Genshin Impact เปิดตัว เกมนี้ได้เปิดตัวสำหรับสมาร์ทโฟน , PlayStation 4 และพีซี หนึ่งปีต่อมา HoYoverse ได้นำ Genshin Impact มาให้เล่นกันบน PlayStation 5 แต่ในตอนนี้เกมดังกล่าวยังไม่ได้ข้ามไปยังแพลตฟอร์ม Nintendo หรือ Xbox แม้ว่าจะมีการประกาศพอร์ต Nintendo Switch เป็นครั้งแรกในเดือนมกราคมปี 2020 ซึ่งเป็นการประกาศก่อนที่เกมจะเผยให้เล่นด้วยซ้ำ

ถ้าเกิดจะถามว่าเหตุใดNintendo ถึงต้องรอเวลากันนานจนกว่าจะเปิดตัวชุด Nintendo Selects หรือปกราคาถูก?คำตอบคงเป็นเพราะความสำเร็จของ Nintendo Switch ที่พลิกสถานการณ์ความสำเร็จด้วยอัตราที่เร็วมากในระยะหลัง เพราะถ้าสังเกตให้ดี หลังจากปี 2020 เป็นต้นมา Nintendo Switch ได้กลายเป็นเครื่องเล่นที่มีความต้องการสูงจากการเปลี่ยนไลฟ์สไตล์ของผู้คนด้วยการแพร่ระบาดของ COVID-19 อีกทั้งยังเป็นเครื่องที่มีเกมแนวฟิตเนสและแนวจำลองชีวิตเปิดจำหน่ายไล่เลี่ยกันเพื่อทดแทนการออกนอกบ้านด้วย จากเดิมที่ Nintendo Selects มักปรากฏขึ้นตั้งแต่ช่วงกลางเจ็น ก็เลยเป็นไปได้ว่าต้องยืดเวลาเพื่อกอบโกยถึงตอนนี้

ดูเหมือนว่าเกม Palworld กำลังจะได้รับการสานต่อให้ยิ่งใหญ่ขึ้นไปอีก เมื่อล่าสุดทาง Pocketpair ผู้พัฒนาเกมดังกล่าวได้ออกมาโพสต์ข้อความบนโซเชียลมีเดียเพื่อเปิดรับสมัครพนักงานใหม่เข้าทีม

Pocketpair แชร์โพสต์ประกาศรับสมัครผ่านบัญชี X อย่างเป็นทางการของ Palworld ในประเทศญี่ปุ่น โพสต์นี้มาพร้อมกับ GIF ของสัตว์ประหลาด Depresso ซึ่งปรากฏตัวในออฟฟิศจำลอง 3 มิติของ Pocketpair ขณะกำลังใช้จอบขุดหินอยู่ โดยในโพสต์ดังกล่าวได้ระบุว่า

“เรามีไอเดียเจ๋ง ๆ มากมายสำหรับ Palworld แต่ติดตรงที่ขาดแคลนทีมงานอย่างหนัก!!คำพูดจาก ปั่นสล็อตแตกทุกเกม! ตอนนี้เรากำลังรับสมัครทีมงานทุกตำแหน่ง แต่เน้นไปที่สายวางแผนและวิศวกรเป็นพิเศษ! และไม่ว่าคุณมีประสบการณ์กับเอนจิ้นอะไร ถ้าคุณสนใจสร้างเกมใหม่ทั้งหมด โปรดส่งใบสมัครของคุณมาเลย!!”

เรียกได้ว่าเป็นการประกาศที่น่าสนใจไม่น้อย เพราะนั่นแปลว่าเกม Palworld ยังมีอัปเดตมากมายรออยู่ และอาจจะไม่ใช่แค่การอัปเดตมอนสเตอร์แต่อาจจะรวมไปถึงพื้นที่ใหม่ ๆ อีกด้วย ซึ่งเราก็ต้องมาติดตามกันต่อไปครับ

ในขณะเดียวกัน Palworld จะพาพวกเราไปใช้ชีวิตสโลว์ไลฟ์ในโลกกว้างสีสันสดใสร่วมกับสิ่งมีชีวิตแปลกประหลาดที่เรียกว่า Pals โดยผู้เล่นจะสามารถเล่นเกมได้ตามรูปแบบ Playstyle ของตัวเองได้อย่างอิสระไม่ว่าจะเป็นการตามจับ Pal และนำมาต่อสู้กับเหล่าร้าย, ทำฟาร์มปลูกพืชและปศุสัตว์ หรือจับมันไปเป็นแรงงานในโรงงาน อีกทั้งยังขายเนื้อของมันหรือจับมาทำอาหารก็ได้
